How We Process Voice Input:
• Voice recognition is processed ON YOUR DEVICE by Apple speech services on iOS and Google speech services on Android. We do not control Apple/Google's data practices for their speech services
• Audio is converted to text in REAL-TIME and is NOT recorded or stored
• We do NOT create voice profiles, voiceprints, or audio recordings
• Audio data is discarded IMMEDIATELY after transcription to text

What We Collect:
• We ONLY collect the TEXT transcription of your speech, not the audio itself

Children's Voice Data:
• Voice features are intended for adult caregivers only
• We do NOT collect voice recordings from children directly
• Parents/guardians must provide consent before using voice features

State-Specific Notices:

Illinois (BIPA - Biometric Information Privacy Act):
• No voice recordings or voiceprints are collected, stored, or transmitted by AutismSignal
• Voice processing occurs entirely on your device by Apple speech services on iOS and Google speech services on Android. We do not control Apple/Google's data practices for their speech services
• We do not sell, lease, or trade voice identifiers

Your Control:
• Enable/disable voice input in device settings
• Voice input is optional; you can always use text entry
• Disabling voice access does not affect your account

How We Use Your Information - Core Service Functionality, Notifications and Reminders, AI-Powered Features, Service Improvement, Communication

We will not use your information for marketing purposes without explicit consent.

Legal and Safety
We may use or disclose information when necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations (court orders, subpoenas, regulatory requirements)
- Protect rights and property of AutismSignal, users, or the public

AI Features
- Data shared: Routine information, behavioral data, observations, profile details (age, sensitivities). This data does not contain names, phone numbers, or other personally identifiable information.
- Purpose: Generate AI-powered insights, suggestions, and recommendations
- Data usage: OpenAI processes data to provide the service; review OpenAI's data usage policies

Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets:
- Your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity
- We will notify you via email or in-app notification before your information is transferred

Profiles for Minors
- Managed by adults: Profiles for minors are created and managed by parents, legal guardians, or authorized caregivers
- Parental authority: The adult user has full authority and responsibility for data entered in minor profiles
- Access control: Minors do not have independent accounts or login credentials

Parents' Rights
If your child's information is tracked through AutismSignal:
- You have full control over the data
- You can review, edit, or delete all information
- You can revoke caregiver access at any time
- You can delete the profile entirely

Discovery of Unauthorized Use
If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 18 without proper parental authorization:
- We will delete the information promptly
- We will take steps to prevent recurrence

AutismSignal complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

Parental Control and Consent:
- The Service is designed for adults (18+) who manage profiles for children under 13
- Parents and legal guardians have full control over children's data
- By creating a profile for a child under 13, you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian
- You provide verifiable parental consent for collection and use of the child's information by creating and managing their profile

No Direct Collection from Children:
- Children under 13 do not have independent accounts
- Children do not directly input data into the Service
- All data entry is performed by parents, guardians, or authorized caregivers

Voice Input & Children:
- Voice features are intended for adult caregivers only
- We do not knowingly collect voice data from children under 13
- If a child uses voice input, parents are responsible for supervision
- Audio is never stored - only text transcriptions are saved
- By enabling voice features, you confirm you are the parent/legal guardian

Sensitive Data Notice:
We process sensitive data including:
- Behavioral information
- Precise geolocation (if you enable location services)

Voice Data and Biometric Laws:
We do NOT collect biometric data via voice features:
- Illinois (BIPA): Not applicable - no voice recordings or voiceprints stored
- Texas and Washington: Not applicable - no biometric identifiers collected
- All States (Wiretapping): One-party consent satisfied - user consents by enabling voice feature

Right to Appeal:
If we deny your request, you have the right to appeal. Email support@AutismSignal.com with "Appeal" in the subject line. We will respond within 60 days.

Authorized Agents:
You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. The agent must provide proof of authorization.

No Discrimination:
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Data Retention - We retain your data while your account is activbe, as required by law, Necessary for legitimate interests

Cookies and Tracking Technologies - While using our website, you can manage cookies through your browser settings.
You can always change settings on your mobile device including location setting. Third-party services may use their own tracking technologies. Review their privacy policies for details.
